Aquastar Regate

Aquastar Regate Yacht Timer Circa mid-1960s

The Regatta was introduced in the mid-1960's by Aquastar Swiss watch manufacturer founded in 1962. In 1964, Aquastar received a Swiss patent for a watch allowing the counting of a restricted number of minutes. Even in 1965 Heuer began to distribute the full line of Aquastar watches which included the Aquastar Regate, a 5 minute  countdown timer designed for sailing. Some wacthes had Heuer logo on the dial.

Reference 1665 was launched in 1967, regular production started in the early 1970s and continued to the late 1970s, where the  red letting was replace by white. The 1665 was replaced by the 16660 in the early 1980s

Reference 80 is an unique edition of 160 units for 2001.  Features a hand-wound mechanical, Chezard cal. 7400. hours, minutes, jumping seconds (dead seconds). The second hand advances once per second, as on a quartz watch.

On 10 October 2005, Wempe Chronometerwerke celebrated its centenary. The outstanding feature of this anniversary wristwatch, which was created especially for Wempe’s 100th anniversary, is Caliber 1872, which was built by Nouvelle Lemania, the renowned manufacturer of blank movements.
